Job Description:
Argo Organics S.A.S is an emerging global leader in IT services (software-as-a-service and infrastructure-as-a-service) and web-based publishing and media services company. The Company is now seeking an intern for Web Development/IT Programming to design and develop software-as-a-service (saas) websites and infrastructure-as-a-service (iaas) systems and to collaborate with outside contractors and outsourcing firms in South America and Asia and to be responsible for trouble-shooting and maintenance of the company’s saas websites and iaas systems. The job holder will report to the head of software engineering and will work largely in Barranquilla, Colombia but also travel to the headquarters in New Jersey, USA. Responsibilities:
- Work independently or as a member of development team on certain website/software projects assigned by the senior management of the Company (saas websites and iass systems); write code that is clean, functional, efficient and compatible with major web browsers and background software technologies;
- Review, and recommend to the Management for approval of, detailed and high level project specifications for website/software projects for in-house use and for the Company’s contractors and outsourcing firms;
- Interacting with outside contractors and outsourcing firms and reporting to the supervisor and management with regard to the projects being developed and monitor closely contractors’ and outsourcing firms’ progress, performing quality control in terms of auditing contractors’ compliance with specifications provided by our company;
- Maintain secure access to client-only subscription-based and commerce areas of company web sites;
- Maintain and monitor company web sites for code and content errors and act on code modifications and content changes required by the Company’s management in a timely manner;
- Develop, update, and maintain content management tools to be used by non-technical content managers;
- Identify opportunities to grow and enhance company web sites to keep them current and entice new and repeat visitors;
- Monitor the IT industry for new and/or changing technologies and tools by reading publications, exploring the web and participating in discussion groups;
- Monitor paid users’ and visitors’ feedback to improve effectiveness of company web sites;
- Work with and provide guidance to company departments to develop and maintain the company e-commerce and customer care web sites;
- Provide support for e-commerce and customer user registration;
- Troubleshoot and correct errors and eliminate bugs in company’s saas websites and iass systems; rectify malfunctions in content management;
- Administer web services (Java/JSP, PL/SQL, HTML and JavaScript);
- Apply relevant changes to the E-Commerce and customer content management systems;
-Determine the best and most efficient generation of code and use of web server applications by discussing overall company web strategies;
- Ensure that Internet systems, applications and services are in good working order and capable of meeting company’s standards and objectives;
- Troubleshoot web site errors, server problems and other technology issues;
- Other matters required by the Company’s management from time to time.
Required Skills, Coursework, or Education in the following:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science;
- PHP,Java and Microsoft .Net Technology
- Web development/IT programming and have access to library of codes that can be utilized to save time in developing various projects;
- Web content development and management;
- One or more current Java application frameworks;
- HTML5, XML, CSS, XHTML, Ajax, Javascript, C++ ;
- Java and JSP Servlets;
- Open Source content management systems such as Joomla and Drupal, and software such as LAMP;
- My SQL, MS SQL and Oracle;
- Adobe Creative Suite;
- UI Design;
- Knowledge of various servers, dedicated and virtual;
- Ability and interest to closely collaborate with different individuals to understand business needs and requirements;
- Strong organizational and decision making skills;
- Ability to handle many projects at a time and the ability to prioritize is essential
